Dr. Lee Jaffe has been in private practice in the San Diego area since 1983. He is a licensed clinical psychologist, an adult supervising and training psychoanalyst, and a child/adolescent psychoanalyst, as well being a member of the faculty of the UCSD department of Psychiatry. In his La Jolla office, he provides consultations and individual treatment for adults, adolescents and children, which include psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and psychological testing, as well as providing treatment for couples in distress and pre-marital counseling. He is certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association's Board on Professional Standards, he is the President of the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and he has served in various capacities on both national and international professional organizations. He has published numerous scientific articles and a book on assessment for psychoanalytic treatment, as well as serving on the editorial boards of scientific journals.

Dr. Bryan Bruns has had a private practice in San Diego since 1984. He trained at UCSD Medical School and the UCSD department of psychiatry, and at Yale University. He is an instructor on the UCSD department of Psychiatry. He sees both children and adults for psychoanalytic therapy, psychopharmacology, and psychoanalysis. He is certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in Adult, Child, and Forensic Psychiatry. He is an Adult and Child psychoanalyst. He is past president of the San Diego Psychoanalytic Institute and the San Diego branch of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He accepts most insurances. Dr. Ritter is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Psychoanalyst with a private practice for adults in La Jolla, California. She provides treatment for Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Post-traumatic Stress and Trauma recovery, grief/loss experiences, and life transitions, with special interest in Women’s, Men’s, and Bi-cultural issues. She also offers clinical assessments, supervision, and consultation. Welcomes team treatment with psychiatrists and Primary Care Physicians. German speaking. Accepts most health insurances or private fee arrangement.
Dr. Ritter is a graduate of the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and The Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, California. She also is a graduate and a faculty member of the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors.

I have been in the private practice of psychiatry and psychoanalysis since 1977. My work with patients emphasizes compassion, respect, and close collaboration. We work together towards increased understanding, enhanced sense of well-being, and greater effectiveness in personal and work relationships. My treatment includes problem solving, skill building, and removing obstacles to psychological growth and development.
I currently serve on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. I was selected to the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University Medical School, where I graduated in 1973. I am a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association; Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry, UCSD School of Medicine.

NADINE A. LEVINSON, D.D.S combines her knowledge of dentistry with expertise in psychiatry and psychoanalysis. She maintains a private psychoanalytic and psychotherapy practice in Laguna Niguel, California. She is a psychoanalyst and is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Institute where she serves as Assistant Director of Education. Additionally, Dr. Levinson is a geographic training analyst at the New Center of Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. She holds an appointment as Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California at Irvine. Complementing a psychiatric approach to dental patients, she consults for and treats patients who have psychological issues related to their dental disorders. She has been interested in female psychology for years and has co-edited the book: Female Psychology: An Annotated Psychoanalytic Bibliography. She is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the International Psychoanalytical Association and the American Dental Association. She is one of the original founders and currently serves as co-manager of PEP (Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing, Inc.), a successful electronic psychoanalytic library and database containing all of the essential psychoanalytic journals as well as Freud’s Standard Edition. Dr. Levinson is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Psychoanalytical Association, where she serves on the Board and several IPA committees.
